One More Question For Ya...
[ Category: All | Subcategory: All ]

There were some good suggestions in the previous discussion I started. Now as we are working on plans for this site's future I have another question. The question is: Would you prefer all Unreal Tournament tutorials over Unreal 1? Would it be ok if we focused on Unreal Tournament only now? Basically it comes down to which game you have, Unreal 1 or Unreal Tournament. If you only have Unreal and don't yet have Unreal Tournament, tell us so. It is our belief that Unreal Tournament would be the overwhelming choice of everyone now, but I may as well ask the people what they think first :)

Yep, I agree with the UT only approach. It only makes sense to use the editor that is the basis of DukeEd. It should make the switch over a lot easier.

0003 - Ut & Unreal are basicly the same.

The only real difference between Unreal & Unreal Tournament is UT has more organized coding, different weapons, classes & artwork, but basically the level creation interface is about the same. I've used Unreal tutorials to make levels for Unreal tournament and Unreal get the same thing done, But like UT & Unreal, DukeEd will be different than UnrealEd (Editor for Unreal & UT) the only good thing would be depending on what type of game style the levels will be based on. For single player levels you could use Unreal tutorials, and for multiplayer use UT. Some may not agree but it seems simple enough.

Jep, only UT please. Unreal is far too old :)

There are already some good Unreal tutorials out there, what we need now are some that are specific to UT and DNF, "When It's Finished." ;^)

I think we should start to focus on UT. There aren't many editing differences, but there are things about Unreal multiplayer that confuse me. DukeEd being modified from both, UT is at least closer to what we'll be using for Duke.

Dump Unreal and go for UT, Unreal is too old and can be very different from UT when editing the game

I feel that we should have both types of tutorials. U for single player stuff, and UT for multiplayer. You could possibly point out the differences between the two engines as well during the tutorials. Thanks

Unreal Tournament is my choice. Ocassionally I return to Unreal. However, UT is where I now spend the majority of my time. Thanks.

0011 - UT Please

Stick to UT. Unreal is basically the same game but if you look at the stats on Gamespy, no one is playing Unreal multiplayer anymore (well, about 60 players, maybe). Thousands are playing UT and more every day. That's not going to reverse itself. Support for UT is the logical choice since it will only get more popular.

UT is fine. Very few people still use the original Unreal's development tools. (UnrealED)
