Tutorial: Advanced Terrain I

B. Lofting

The first step is to loft the floor. Simply loft to your heart's desire and ADD somewhere near the bottom of the bounding cube.

Next, rotate the loft 90 degrees, and edit the vertices so that they leave no gaps where the intersect with the first loft. Repeat this 4 times, once for each wall.

Dont worry that the textures look like crap yet

Now comes the point where you must decide if this will be an inside or outside loft:

1. Inside Lofting (Cave)

Rotate the loft brush so that the base is actually against the top of the original cube.  Loft like normal but recall the lofts will go DOWN.   Use this to make large column type extensions and other neat things.

2. Outside Lofting

The exact same as indoor lofting, but this time the 'cieling' loft will be a subtraction brush instead of an add.

Here I've made an outdoor environment.

Now the lofting is out of the way, you can focus on getting those textures looking visually keen...
