Beginner Tutorial: Making your First Level

D. Adding Objects and Classes

Now that you have a nice structure built, lets add some stuff to it. On the right, open the Classes browser. We are going to put some decorations in this level. Under Actor, open up Decoration. Lots of classes should be listed under Decoration. Select Table. With Table selected, go to your 3D view. Move into the room where you want the table. Point to the spot on the floor you want it added at, right click, and select "Add Table Here". The Table should be added there. If you want to put some chairs around it, help yourself. Select Chair, then add chairs around it. They will face a certain direction by default. If you want to rotate the chairs and point them toward the table, go to the 2D View. I prefer the overhead view if you want to point them at the table. Select each chair by clicking on it, then press control. Drag the left mouse button to move the chair, and drag the right mouse button to rotate it. Rotate each chair to face the table...

Select the classes in the Classes section of the Browser.  Check under Decorations for most of the cool detail meshes.

Try adding various decorations around the rooms, like barrels and chests.  Don't put any trees inside though, that would look weird :)   But basically this is how you add detail objects. If you want to change the size of the object, select it, go to the actor's properties, and then choose the Display section. There should be a DrawScale option for every actor. Set the drawscale to however big you want the object to be...

Actor Properties > Display > DrawScale to size your objects

So thats about it for now. Every actor has lots and lots of properties, some I will cover more later, some you will just have to mess with. Some of the decorations are lights and will automatically light your level up. They have light proporties that work the same was as a regular light (The torch icon). Don't add any of those, we will light up the level by hand in the next section...
